About Me (From Voracious Carnivore To Docile Grazer)

Updated: Nov 29, 2020

Hi everyone my name is Zachary Greer. For the next 30 days, I will be following a vegetarian diet. This means that for the next 30 days I will be restricting all meat, eggs, and dairy from my diet. Also, I will be doing my best to avoid foods that contain these inputs as best as I can.

My motivation to do this comes from a variety of reasons. First, my girlfriend Tiff Tsilker who has her own amazing blog (https://www.natifbytiff.com/copy-of-about-me) has been advocating for me to try this forever. In addition to this and the multiple health-related documentaries on Netflix that she has subjected me too has put out a pretty compelling story. On top of this, my long time friend Jake Xiggoros does not think I stand a chance of making it through the 30 days. So I am going to prove him wrong and make this happen.

A little bit of background info. I love meat, I love dairy and I love eggs. Let me tell you what my diet was previous to embarking on this grass-fed journey.

Breakfast; Greek yogurt, granola, bagel with peanut butter, banana, frozen fruit.

Lunch; Protein Bars, 3 Hardboiled eggs, chicken/prepared meat, apples, and banana

Dinner; 2 to 3 chicken breasts BBQ, peppers and other vegetables

In addition to this on Saturday nights Loblaws (my local grocery store) always has unreal deals going on. I suppose this is because that's when all their meat expires. So usually I and the boys (Mack Mercier and Jake) would load up on the meat and have ourselves a buffet.

So in summary before this, I was consuming a very large amount of meat each week. Now before this day today, I was feeling pretty good. I was pretty happy with my day to day energy levels and performance at work (I run a Student Works Painting business) https://www.studentworks.com/. Although I always feel there is room for improvement. I will pursue this new lifestyle in hopes that it will lead to an increased overall quality of life.

With this blog, I plan to update yawl on what I'm eating, spending at the grocery store, and feeling as I progress over the next 4 weeks. More or less this will be like a public diary that will help me stay accountable to my goal. On top of this, I hope this blog will provide some insight into what it is like to make a change to one's lifestyle and hopefully act as a resource to anyone who is looking to go down the vegetarian path.
