Hey Everyone! Happy Sunday! I hope you are all doing great!
For today I want to talk about my experience so far doing door to door sales, for the Student Works Painting Franchise that I'm running this summer.
Now I know I missed my last post so this week I'm making two to catch up!
For today I want to talk about my experience so far doing door to door sales, for the Student Works Painting Franchise that I'm running this summer.
So far I've been out a total of 3 times for 7 hours total. I have only had 1 person mention anything about a pandemic out of about 200 people that I talked to.
When I first started I was wearing this mask that I got off amazon that had this clear window in it. It sucked.
Because its an actual barrier and isn't breathable the mask fogs up right away! Especially in the cold. So no one was able to see my face or smile which was the whole point of using this mask. Next, because I was talking so much the condensation from my breath started to drip down my mask and into the cloth part. Not a big deal unless your outside in below 0 temperatures. So right away it started to freeze and get super cold right on my face. Also, it is significantly harder for people to hear you while you are talking with a mask. When I came across an older person I was pretty much fucked and just gave them a flyer and moved on.
So about 1/2 an hour into my first session I dropped the mask and started to use this clear face shield that I got off of amazon. I thought because it is away from my face I wouldn't have the earlier issues... I was completely wrong. Because the whole shield was plastic the fog travelled all the way up the shield. So when I was pitching people and then trying to objection handle I lost sight of the person in front of me. Would have been pretty funny to watch from the homeowners perspective as I started to disappear from sight...
The other shitty thing about the plastic face shield is that the condensation starts to bead up and then I was dripping water off my mask. I can't imagine what this looked like to a homeowner.
After that, I dropped the face shield and mask completely. I made sure I was standing back at least 15 feet! This worked significantly better. I was much more comfortable doing this I and think it must have been reflected in my pitch. Overall I was able to generate 7 leads from marketing so far which pretty good for late December marketing!
Overall for anyone doing door to door from SW, just make sure that you are standing very far away from the door and you should be absolutely fine.
That’s all for this week everyone!
